No School November 11
There will be no school on November 11 for Veterans’ Day.
On that subject, I want to thank the community for all the support I’ve gotten from Leominster as a veteran and member of the National Guard. It’s appreciated!
Report Cards

Students Bringing in Personal Devices and iPads
LHS has banned all cell phones this year, which has been a great way to raise engagement and get students to learn without distractions, drama, and disruption.
BUT
Many students have started to bring in personal laptops and iPads. This allows them to circumvent everything we are trying to do to get kids off their screens. iPads allow them to do everything that they could do with their phone. School-issued devices have filters that try to block students from accessing unauthorized or unsafe sites which an iPad or personal laptop will not have. Per the student handbook students must complete school-assigned writing on their issued chromebook to attempt to prevent plagiarism, which the history functions on the chromebooks would allow us to discover.
So please don’t send your student to school with an iPad or personal laptop. It undermines everything we are trying to do to keep kids focused on school and from accessing things we don’t want to have access to do.
Parent-Teacher Conferences Save the Date
Parent-Teacher conferences are on November 24 from 4 to 8 and November 25 from 12 to 4. Teachers will be reaching out to you to set up appointments.
Senior Yearbook Parent Letters
Parents who wish to submit a parent letter in acknowledgement to their child may do so using this form. The parent letter will also include 1 photo of your child, and this letter will be featured in the back of the 2025 - 2026 yearbook. Cost per parent letter with picture will be $15.00.
Form Submission are due by February 27th, PAYMENT due by March 5th. Forms will be closed on February 28th, and any payments received after March 6th will not be accepted. Payments may be made by checks thru the mail, Cash may be dropped off at the CTEi office, in an envelope with parent and students name on front of the envelope. Clothing Drive
From now until November 13th, GIVE (the LHS Community Service Club) is collecting new or gently used warm clothing. If you have anything you would like to donate, please drop items off in any social studies classroom or in C233.
Parent Member Sought for Student Opportunity Act Data Advisory Commission
The State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking nominations to fill the parent seat on the Student Opportunity Act Data Advisory Commission, which advises DESE in identifying, analyzing, and making recommendations on high-impact, cost-effective strategies for assessing student needs and addressing persistent disparities in achievement. The parent seat must be filled by the parent of a student currently in the K-12 school system. The Department encourages candidates with diverse experiences and backgrounds to apply. Interested individuals should email a brief statement of interest along with their résumé to Matt Deninger by Friday,

The Wizard of Oz at LHS
Hello everyone! It is time to get your tickets to this year’s musical, The Wizard of Oz! This is going to be a MASSIVE production - we actually double cast the elementary school munchkins, so we have 58 elementary students performing across the 4 shows! This year, we are excited to announce that we have moved to an online ticket process. The switch to online ticketing a few years ago proved to be more efficient and helped us improve record keeping. As an incentive to switch to the online format for purchasing tickets, online tickets will be on sale for one week prior to in person sales. Due to the fee structure of the company we are using, tickets will also be cheaper online. The link to purchase tickets online is:

The dates for the musical are November 14th at 7:00pm, November 15th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm, and November 16th at 1:00pm in the Leominster High School Auditorium. Single tickets for the musical are available in the following categories:
Lower Orchestra Seating (Choose your seat in the front lower section of the auditorium) - $17
Upper Orchestra Seating (Choose your seat in the upper section of the auditorium) - $12
*Tickets will all be $5/$3 more if bought in person, and will not be available for purchase until October 27th.
To purchase in person tickets, bring in money to Ms. M starting October 27th. Prices will be:

Reminders
Damaged and Lost Chromebooks
We get a LOT of damaged and lost chromebooks and this gets to be very expensive for the district. If your student damages their chromebook through negligence or deliberate damage (it happens), we do charge for the replacement device just like we do if a student loses their textbooks. Do whatever you can to get them to be responsible for their chromebook.

School bus routes are posted on the district website at https://www.leominsterps.org/.
You can also track the bus using the FirstView App.
Schedule:
Schedules are available in ASPEN. Your student can log in to ASPEN using their school google account username and password. You can log in at https://ma-leominster.myfollett.com/aspen-login/?deploymentId=ma-leominster
Student Pick Up and Drop Off:
Remember that 2100 people are trying to get into the school at 7:30 and there is construction around the city so plan to be a little earlier due to traffic. If you drive your student you can drop them off and pick them up at the main entrance of the school (not where the buses are). Pull up as far forward as you can.
Calling in a student absent
If your student is going to be absent call the school at 978-534-7715 as soon as possible. The absence line is option 1. If you get an auto-call that your student is marked as absent and you think they are at school, don’t panic. Sometimes they accidentally get marked absent (especially with a sub) and sometimes they cut class. Call the school and we will confirm they are not here.
School Attendance:
It is essential for you to get your student to school as much as possible. I am compelled by law to work to get your student to school as often as possible. Absences are excused by a doctor or dentist’s note, court appearance, college visit, driving license appointment. Vacations are not excused absences.
When a student gets five unexcused absences we will require a meeting with parents to make a plan to get them to school more often. Remember that students will need to make up time from unexcused absences at our Saturday Academy.
Student Dismissals
If you need to dismiss your student you can send them to school with a note to bring to the office when they get to school. Your student will receive a pass to be dismissed and can just check out at the office when it is time for them to go. You won’t need to come into the school and it’s much faster than coming in to dismiss your student.
We cannot do dismissals over the phone or by reading a text you sent to your student’s phone for safety reasons. Someone else could be impersonating you and we would not be able to verify it (this happens more often than you might think).
